Have you ever thought about growing your own vegetables?

The venture can be hard work, particularly in the beginning, but the rewards of growing your own produce are very satisfying.

At Love Lane we have several pieces of machinery available to assist with preparation of the ground and for cutting the grass and pruning trees .

To keep the site looking clean and tidy we ask for an hour or two of plot holders time on the last Saturday of each month to do some mowing, strimming, weeding etc on the communal parts of the site.

There is a toilet on site which we ask all users to respect and leave as clean or cleaner than they find it, water dipping tanks are spread around the site to allow for watering cans to be filled. (hose pipes not allowed)

Also provided are two areas for manure and wood chips used for pathways which plot-holders are

more than welcome to avail themselves of.

Waiting List For Vacant Plots

We, after discussions with the Council in 2022, operate our waiting list slightly differently to the Council.  Our list is operated on a first come first served system for all comers.

If you think you would like to try your hand at Allotmenteering then contact our secretary, Sheila Meheux or fill out the form on the contact page and send us your details.

Monthly Work Party

As mentioned above we allocate the last Saturday in each month from 10:00 to midday for the purpose of trying to maintain the parts of the site that do not get the TLC that each plot might receive.

There is equipment on site to help with mowing the grass and in some cases turning over the ground with a rotavator. we also have strimmers for keeping down the grass and weeds in awkward places.

This is also an opportunity to chat with other plot holders and enjoy a chat at midday over a cup of tea/coffee and a biscuit and quite often home made cake!

Time to discuss your gardening tips and problems.

Growing Fruit and Veg

The rewards of growing your own produce are evident in cost savings but there is the additional benefit of exercise, being in the fresh air and inner satisfaction of having grown your own.
